About Dubai
Dubai is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and it is located south of the Persian Gulf. Dubai covers an area of 3.885 km² and has a population of 1,8 Mio. Dubai is the largest emirate by population and the second-largest by area, after Abu Dhabi.
The first recorded reference to Dubai is in 1095; The earliest settlement known as Dubai town dates from 1799.
Today, Dubai has emerged as a global city and a business hub. Although Dubai's economy was built on the oil industry, today the emirate's main revenues are from tourism, real estate, and financial services.
Through many innovative large construction projects and sports events, Dubai has recently attracted world attention.
